In our continuous effort to highlight the importance of Digital Citizenship, Grades 7 and 8 were taught the definition of a Digital Footprint, who can see their digital content, and what impact this might have on their future. Students were able to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having public or private profiles on social media apps. They learned what they can control, and when they lose control over digital content.
An extra emphasis was placed on empathy in the digital world, using real-life examples shared with the class. Students were then able to develop better emotional awareness of the effect of their digital interactions on their well-being. Students were able to connect what they had learned in these sessions to their daily life. Tips were shared with students to help them enhance their digital identity, protect themselves from harm, and build their personal brand.
