In line with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee’s mission statement, members were trained to give their peers sessions on increasing inclusivity, tolerance, and an equitable culture among all students.
In the first of a series, the topic of Emotional Intelligence was chosen to highlight the different components that were deemed important for students’ self-improvement. The main focus was on self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, social skills, and motivation.
Students were able to discuss these with their peers while linking them to common experiences. With the members being from Upper School classes, they were able to share their own experiences and “life hacks” with Middle School students and their classmates alike.
