On January 17 th, Ms. May Sakr Maalouf, clinical dietitian, and a representative from the AUBMC
treatment and Outreach Program for Eating Disorders (TOP-ED), conducted an awareness
session on eating disorders for upper school students.
The session aimed at educating students on the various types of eating disorders, their warning signs, and the importance of maintaining a
healthy lifestyle.
The session began with a presentation on the different types of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. Students learned about the physical and psychological symptoms of these disorders, as well as the impact they can have on a person’s overall health and well-being.
The session also highlighted the warning signs of eating disorders such as drastic weight loss, preoccupation with food and weight, and a distorted body image.
Ms.Sakr concluded the session with a reflection on the importance of self-care and
healthy eating habits which contribute to long-term physical and mental health.
