Day One marked the opening ceremony of the Education Forum, bringing together the education community for meaningful dialogue on the future of K–12 education in Lebanon, with the participation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Organized and hosted by Ahliah School, in collaboration with the Department of Education at the American University of Beirut, the opening ceremony gathered over 100 participants from public and private schools, alongside educators, principals, teachers, policymakers, researchers, and experts from diverse sectors.
The opening ceremony began with welcoming remarks by Ms. Rida Ayache, Principal of Ahliah School, and Dr. Tamer Amin, Acting Chair of the Department of Education at AUB, and continued with keynote addresses by H.E. Dr. Rima Karami, Minister of Education and Higher Education, and Mr. Omar Abdulaziz Hussein Al Naama, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, representing H.E. Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater, Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar. The day concluded with a historic moment as Dr. Nadim Cortas was awarded the National Order of Merit by H.E. Dr. Rima Karami, in recognition of his lifelong contribution to education and public service. A strong opening to two days of dialogue, partnership, and shared responsibility for education in Lebanon.
شكّل اليوم الأوّل حفل افتتاح الملتقى التربوي، جامعًا مختلف الفاعلين في القطاع التربوي لحوار مهني حول مستقبل التعليم المدرسي في لبنان، بحضور وزارة التربية والتعليم العالي.
نُظّم الملتقى واستُضيف من قبل المدرسة الأهليّة في بيروت، بالتعاون مع دائرة التربية في الجامعة الأميركيّة في بيروت، وشهد حفل الافتتاح مشاركة أكثر من 100 مشارك من ممثلي المدارس الرسميّة والخاصّة، إلى جانب تربويين، مديري مدارس، معلمين، صنّاع سياسات، باحثين، وخبراء من قطاعات متنوّعة.
استُهلّ حفل الافتتاح بكلمات ترحيبيّة ألقتها الأستاذة رضا عياش، مديرة المدرسة الأهليّة، والدكتور تامر أمين، رئيس دائرة التربية بالإنابة في الجامعة الأميركيّة في بيروت، تلتها الكلمات الرئيسيّة لكل من معالي وزيرة التربية والتعليم العالي الدكتورة ريما كرامي والسيّد عمر عبد العزيز حسين النعمة، الوكيل المساعد لشؤون التعليم الخاص بوزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي من دولة قطر، ممثلًا عن معالي السيدة لولوة بنت راشد بن محمد الخاطر، وزيرة التربية والتعليم العالي في دولة قطر.
واختُتم اليوم الأوّل بلحظة وطنيّة رمزيّة، حيث منحت معالي الوزيرة ريما كرامي وسام الاستحقاق الوطني للدكتور نديم قرطاس، تقديرًا لمسيرته الطويلة في خدمة التربية والعمل العام.
انطلاقة قويّة ليومين من الحوار، والشراكة، والمسؤوليّة المشتركة من أجل التعليم في لبنان.
