Biography

Ibrahim F. Khoury is presently a Public Relations and Media Consultant. Since 2010, he has been the media and public relations adviser for the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), headed by the Lebanese First Lady, Wafaa Sleiman, he renewed his connection with the American University of Beirut (AUB) by becoming a consultant to the dean for the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, he is the responsible director of The Daily Star, the only and reputable English daily newspaper in Lebanon, and is the advisor for the Japanese Kyodo News Service in Beirut.

From 1992- 2010, and after about 22 years in journalism, Khoury was recruited as the director of AUB’s Office of Information and Public Relations. During these 18 years, he significantly strengthened AUB’s relations and communications with the national and international media. He also supervised AUB’s main publications as responsible editor of AUB Bulletin, and as co-founder and co-editor of Maingate.

As a student at AUB, he served as education and student reporter in Al Anwar, a known Lebanese newspaper (1969-1973) and in the paper’s Foreign Desk (1973 to 1981), after which he was promoted to become its responsible director until he joined AUB in 1992. During the period from 1975-1992, Mr. Khoury also worked with the Japanese Kyodo News Service in Beirut.

Khoury is a member of the Editors’ Union(Lebanon) since 1973 and of the Press Syndicate (Lebanon) since 1981, where he served as a member of the Press Syndicate Council (1990 – 1994) and as treasurer from 1992-1994. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Tele Liban from 1992 to 1999.

Ibrahim F. Khoury received his BA in Economics in 1973 from the American University of Beirut.
