
Ahliah School recently hosted an enriching outreach workshop designed to spark students’ interest in engineering and applied technology. The workshop was led by Dr. Naseem Daher from the American University of Beirut, accompanied by a dedicated team of third- and fourth-year engineering students who brought their expertise to the experience.
The initiative introduced high school students to the fundamentals of Control Systems Engineering through dynamic, hands-on learning activities. Designed to be accessible and engaging, the workshop required no prior knowledge of coding, electrical circuits, or robotics. Instead, students were guided step-by-step through essential concepts, allowing them to build understanding from the ground up.
Working in teams, students used robotic car kits to explore how control systems function in real-world applications. Through interactive experimentation, they learned how systems respond to inputs, how feedback mechanisms operate, and how programming and engineering principles come together to produce controlled movement. The practical nature of the sessions encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving, key skills for future engineers and innovators.
The program was delivered on campus for students in Grades 10, 11, and 12, creating an inclusive opportunity for learners at different stages of their academic journey. The experience culminated in an exciting and competitive school-level challenge, where students applied what they had learned in a fun and motivating environment. The challenge not only reinforced technical concepts but also fostered teamwork, creativity, and healthy competition.
