About Dr. Rima Karami Akkary
Dr. Rima Karami Akkary is a professor at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and an expert in educational leadership and school reform. She holds a Bachelor’s degree, a teaching diploma, and a Master’s degree from AUB, as well as a Doctorate in Education from Portland State University.
She is the Director of the TAMAM Project, which started at AUB in 2007 to help schools improve and develop strong leaders. The project has now expanded to 67 schools across 8 Arab countries and won the 2021-2022 UNESCO-HAMDAN Prize for Teacher Development.
Dr. Karami has been a trusted advisor to many schools in Lebanon and the region, working to improve teaching and leadership. She is also an active member of several educational organizations, helping shape the future of learning.
