Communication of the School Emergency Plan

Ahliah School has made preparations to respond to an emergency situation occurring during school hours. This includes annual staff and faculty  training in First Aid ,Fire preparedness and evacuation  procedures.

Parents assistance and cooperation is important in contributing to a secure and safe environment at Ahliah, by adhering to the following procedures.

  1. Example of events that will determine if students are kept at school:

The decision to keep students at school will be determined upon whether the streets in the area are open and/or safe.

.

In the event that the students will be kept at school for extended periods of time, procedures are in place to provide them with the needed requirements to keep them safe and comfortable.

In the event that a natural disaster (earthquakes, severe storm, flooding, etc.) occurs during commute to/from school during school trips , drivers will make every attempt to return the students safely. Should road conditions prevent the driver from delivering students to the school  the students will be delivered to the nearest safe site authorized by the school.

  1. Telephone lines may be needed for Emergency Communication. Do not call the school. Parents will be notified by an SMS Message in the event of any changes to routine.

  1. In the event of a serious emergency in the vicinity of the school, students will be kept at school. They are released only when it is determined to be safe, to either an individual who has a legal right to the child or someone whom the child’s parent(s) or guardian has previously authorized upon registration.

The registration is required to be completed by parents at the beginning of every school year, updating the section for authorized person. Please be sure that you consider the following criteria when you authorize another person to pick up your child at school.  The authorized person:

  1. is a responsible adult.
  2. is usually home during the day and could walk to school, if necessary.
  3. is known to your child.
  4. is both aware of and able to assume this responsibility.

Please discuss these matters with your family. Planning ahead will help alleviate any concerns during an emergency
