Ahliah counselor conducts various counseling sessions for students

In efforts to enhance student wellbeing, school counselor, Mrs. Sandra Ziadeh, has been conducting various awareness sessions throughout the months of October – December to engage with students and to allow them to partake in discussions among each other.

At the beginning of the school year, sessions were held for the parents of preschoolers and Grades 1 and 2 students to discuss ways in which they can assist their children with online learning.

Mrs. Ziadeh then arranged sessions for the lower school students. Grades 3-5 students learned tips that helped them study from home. Throughout the following months, Mrs. Ziadeh organized a “Fun Hour” to help Grades 3, 4 and 5 students interact and have fun. During that hour, they told jokes and prepared riddles. Grades 4 and 5 students also learned about online safety, and the steps on how to report inappropriate material.

Grades 7 and 8 students had the opportunity to learn identifying and regulating their emotions. They learned how their thoughts, emotions and behaviors are all connected, and what they can do to gain control over them. A general discussion session was held for Grade 9LP students on exam stress and studying tips. The students were able to discuss their concerns and learn how to study effectively. Grade 9CFYP students had the chance to discuss what motivates them, how to strengthen their motivation, and what kind of goals they can set for themselves.

Upper school students learned about time management, and how to use their time efficiently to reach their goals. They also had the chance to discuss ways in which they overcome exam stress by sharing different study methods and coping techniques they use to meet deadlines and overcome pressure.
